The Dark Side of the Moon silkscreen print was produced in an edition of 295 by the Hipgnosis founding team of Storm Thorgerson and Aubrey Powell.
The idea to revisit album cover artwork for publication as original, limited edition prints came from Storm Thorgerson in 2000. He had amassed a huge body of work from forty years of creating iconic covers and wanted it to be seen in fuller glory. Storm and his Hipgnosis partner Aubrey Powell (Po) worked towards producing prints from twelve Pink Floyd covers and The Dark Side of the Moon was obviously a prime candidate for inclusion.
Arguably one of the best known album covers in the world, it was ideal for silkscreen with its flat black background and vibrant spectrum of colours. George Hardie did the illustration, back in 1973, when he was working with the Hipgnosis studio on the original cover design. Storm Thorgerson recalled,
