Kristjana S Williams is a multidisciplinary artist whose work spans fine art collage pieces, hand-cut 3D artworks, illustration, animation, and digital design. Her designs are inspired by nature, and her technique involves layering Victorian engravings with elements from nature to mirror the symmetry in all living things.
BORN IN ICELAND IN 1982
Kristjana moved to London in the 2000s to study graphic design and illustration at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. After graduating she soon gained critical acclaim as the Creative Director of Beyond the Valley, a fashion and design store in London.
IN 2012 SHE OPENED HER OWN STUDIO IN CHISWICK, LONDON.
Her work as KSW STUDIO began to gain international recognition, blending Victorian engravings with vibrant, exotic flora and fauna to create fantastical, dream-like worlds. A collaboration with Sennheiser on the Audio Scape Print Journey project was swiftly followed by an approach from Coldplay.
IN 2015
Coldplay's album A Head Full of Dreams was released with Kristjana's intricate collage imagery on the cover of the headline single.
Her artworks draw inspiration from Victorian engravings and the natural world, involving the physical and digital layering of exotic botanicals and vibrant animals to build fantastical, dream-like worlds.
These intricate, sophisticated, and unique 3D pieces bring to life the narrative behind her artwork, creating stunning three-dimensional effects.
THROUGHOUT HER CAREER
Kristjana has worked with prestigious brands like Harrods, Fortnum & Mason, and the Victoria & Albert Museum, and in 2020 she created the artwork for Curious Alice, a VR experience created by the V&A and HTC Vive Arts.
Her work has won numerous awards, including the Pentawards, D&AD in Book, and a Clio Award
Kristjana continues to live and work in West London, constantly evolving her artistic practice and experimenting with new formats.
