Limited edition fine art print - Muse Absolution by Storm Thorgerson

From a chance encounter on the web to a piece of rock history, Storm tells Hypergallery about the origin of Absolution:

”Dom, the drummer from Muse saw a drawn rough of this design on our website and asked if we could do this for real, so we did. I think the band felt that the character in the picture was witnessing a miracle, namely a flotilla of flying beings passing gracefully overhead and experienced a kind of absolution at the sight.”

”Flying beings are not so common and are more the stuff of fairytale and can only be seen under certain circumstances. We are lucky to see the shadows whereas the figure sees the 'reality'. I was keen on suggesting rather than showing directly these 'beings', which is why shadows, leaving detail and narrative to the imagination.”

”I was also keen on the two points of view, his looking up and our looking down, as if we might be flying as well. I also liked the pattern that the shadows made upon the ground providing a graphic dimension to what was basically a romantic image. You can tell can't you that I like this picture unashamedly.”

And rightly so we think!
