Limited edition fine art print - The Mars Volta The Widow by Storm Thorgerson

The story of The Widow, as told by Storm Thorgerson for Hypergallery:

”The Widow is a single from the Mars Volta, from their album, Francis the Mute, which in turn was much about an orphan and his search for real parents, which in turn was part of a more involved screen play for a film that never came to fruition.”

”The album was a soundtrack to this potential movie, our orphan, the white upside down figure is simply looking for his roots and therefore is heading down the tree rather than up to the branches, sounds a bit silly as I write it now but was redeemed by finding the tree.”

”And yes folks the tree is real, not in some exotic location like Madagascar as I had imagined but near Gatwick Airport (beat that if you can). This is a Yew tree whose roots had grown round a rock and through the years the top soil had been washed away to reveal the roots now more like branches, still clinging.”

”Aren't trees great?”
